To everyone who is long Cube: It may help to think of C-Cube as almost behaving like a biotech. This company's products are geared toward the future of computing and broadcasting...things that for the majority of us IS NOT HERE YET. Yes Cube will have competition. But does anyone doubt that HDTV, DVD and increased use of satellites is ahead? The profits are going to take awhile coming. There are 4 Reasons, as I see it for sluggish earnings. 1) A transition is underway in the market Cube is phasing out. The Chinese stopped buying alot of Cube-equipped karoke players. Ultimately, is it a hill of beans? 2) A transition is underway in the markets Cube wishes to serve. HDTV, DVD and satellite is coming this way, replacing and augmenting what's existing. It's a pretty big but pretty slow wave. Some people get excitable a bit early. 3) Noticed any other techs announcing earnings disappointments? 4) Competition in Cubes markets. This is the only thing that concerns me. But as a long term investor, I have some belief that Cube will get at least a small share of this market.
