Many, many thanks to the members of his Board. I have been a long time lurker here and finally decided to post here to thank Uncle Frank, Lindy Bill, Mike Buckley and the many other excellent contributors here who have made this board the best I have found anywhere on the internet. I have read the revised field manual cover to cover, and I believe as others do that it serves as an invaluable launching pad for an incomparably successful investing strategy. That being said, I find this board to be much more useful than the RFM itself; perhaps it is because I am standing on the shoulders of giants that I feel this way and am able to see as clearly as I can from this vantage point.

I am an attorney at a major New York law firm. I specialize in corporate transactional work - primarily mergers and acquisitions, although M&A necessarily requires quite a bit of securities work as well. My practice has been in an industry far removed from the types of high technologies discussed on this board, and I hope to keep it that way! (so I can continue to invest in jdsu, qcom, cree, etc.)

I first discovered Uniphase (UNPH) in the summer of 1998 when I read George Gilder's "Paradigm Party" article (also referred to as the "Intel of the Telecosm" article). At that time I was still paying back debts -- man, if I had only been a year or two further in my career I would have plunked down a substantial amount of my life savings on that one... But as it is, I have a very large weighting in my low-six figure portfolio in JDSU, and have recently taken a position in CREE, thanks in very large part to the excellent discussions of CREE's technologies and competitive position on this board. As somewhat of a gambler, I also have positions in various "shiny pebbles" that I won't bother to mention on this board because they are contrary to this board's prime directive. I also suscribe to the Gilder Technology Report.

Again, I just wanted to introduce myself to the board, and to offer any services that I could add with respect to any issues or questions that might come up with respect to securities laws and regulations, or mergers an acquisitions; while I may not have the answers off the top of my head, legal research is a specialty and I may be able to find the answers to securities and m&a questions for you all. Back to lurk mode -- thanks again, and good luck to all (as if you need luck!) Kirk
p.s. I am relayer75 on several other boards, perhaps some of you have come across my name on various jsdu boards -- one of my posts was actually re-copied here not long ago.
