Well, possibly he might. Self-protection, protection of other traitors, concealment of active plots, misdirection, completely false trails, or even just for something to do... a 'blown' double-agent can still be useful, and it may be hard to check up all he says. If his plea's accepted, after all, what has he got to lose? If he's careful he can always claim - quite sincerely - that he forgot this or that detail, or didn't know about X, or had supposed Y and Z and is just trying to help. And, of course, this 'helpfulness' would render his testimony untrustworthy, even while he fulfils the letter of assistance. How much more will it cost to check and trace all his claims... how much time can he waste? Plus, how many things can he keep concealed - with connivance of those who might well have their own incompetence or worse at issue? I doubt they'd dare execute him, unless they fast-tracked it.
Bottom line: he's a professionally-trained, practised and skillful liar and a proven, confessed traitor. How trustworthy will his 'confession' be? |
