Yes about a 1/3 of coffee I think. But it is worth taking a blood pressure medicine if necessary, in order to drink green, IMO. Or you can get decaffinated, but I don't know if that ruins the anti infammatory chemical in it.

For instance the curing method used to make black tea destroys the anti inflammatory chemical. The same chemical is found in a sour cherry that grows in England.

15 years ago my arthritis started. Runs in my family. It starts when you find yourself rubbing your hands. By pure luck I read that experiment with rats and green tea which said the green tea pretty much stops the progression of arthritis in its tracks and reduces pain better than aspirin.

I gave up coffee and started drinking green tea. 6 bags a day. I put a cup of water in the micro wave in the morning and when heated put 3 tea bags in. Don't get the water too hot. Then again in the afternoon. To this day, I have not had that wringing in my hands, do not need to take any pain medication and barely know I have arthritis.

The other huge anti inflammatory is omega 3's. I eat a ton of fish and take fish oil pills.

One of my favorite recipes is a can of salmon. salmon is the best fish as it is a cold water fish with lots of fat and it is only out to sea a coupe of years, so very low in mercury. I prefer red salmon, but usually get the pinks at costco. I rinse the salmon to get the salt out and then put in some mayonaise, sweet relish chopped onions and pepper. And eat. Low calorie and very tasty and filling.

PS many studies have also shown both green tea and fish oil dramatically reduce heart attacks. IN japan a study with 26,000 Japanese women who drank 7 cups of green tea had a 80% reduction in heart attacks. And everyone knows about fish and heart health.
