There were some pretty good movies in the 70s, Barry Lyndon comes to mind. They hadn't gotten around to the rapid fire roller coaster ride style pacing yet. Compare the original Getaway with the lame 90s remake.

I like movies but I don't care for Hollywood much. I recently subscribed to the Criterion channel, lots of good indie stuff there. They have the entire Hal Hartley collection.



Jim Jarmusch is another favorite. His first movie is on Criterion, another later one is on Amazon Prime. The rest appear to be on Max. It pains me, but I may be subscribing to Max for a little while.
