re: How about No Panel Displays instead of flat panels?

Thanks, I am happy to see that there has been steady interest, and that it has attracted some interesting people like yourself.

I'm glad you stopped in Richard. I definitely see Flat Panel Displays as a temporary solution to our computer-human interface problems. In several years, I see Virtual Retinal Displays (VRDs) replacing flat panels for portable computing/communication devices. We will walk around with powerful communications and computers built into a headband or eyeglass frame. The images will appear in our eyes, and the sounds will orignate in our ears.

Some number of years later, we'll skip the photons and go directly from an electrical signal to electrochemical stimulation of the optic nerve where it fans out into the retina. Slowly but surely the man-machine interface will blur.

In the meantime, there is a large market available for FPDs. We have two FED makers on the thread now that are counting on it. Personally, I am an early-adopter if not even-earlier, so I'll be looking for your VRDs right away.

As the VRDs get ready for prime time, what is the basis of your technology?

* Is a beam mechanically scanned?

* Is the source a diode laser?

* Are three colored VRDs available or at least in testing?

* What are the prospects for prosthetic tools to aid those with functional retinas, but damaged optics?

* How does the VRD system maintain alignment with the eyeball?

I think you can count on all the guests here being interested in whatever you are willing to share with us about Microvision. I'll also check the Under $5 thread, at Subject 9735
