my reference was to specific examples given in real life. not specifically to you. although our current exchange does not bode well for my opinion of bureaucrats. then again it is only my opinion, and as we all know... every one has one.

from the perspective of business having to pay ALL of the cost, yes, i do think it is fair that a government participation is fair. business was not really negligent in OUR ignorance of the things that affected the environment. WE WERE ALL ignorant as to how we dealt with said environment.
To top it all off, Poet says it's ok for you and me to engage in debates on this thread because "I'd expect them among liberals." Now, I'm pretty positive you're not a liberal and I absolutely positive that I'm not a liberal.
i never thought that a friendly (or at least such was the intent on my part) exchange of ideas was damaging to the thread, i have no idea where or how you came up that such exchange would be damaging to the thread.
i have never said i was a liberal. that does not stop me from exchanging ideas with them. as for you , no i did not think you were a liberal. all i did was ask you a question. no more, no less.
I understood it, that we, a couple of non-liberals, should take that discussion (your challenge of big government, in general, and the EPA, in particular) elsewhere
again, i did not understand the same as you did. as for my "challenge"... all i was interested was in your opinion as someone who says that works for the government. the basis for such question was to exchange ideas and perhaps derive or distill something positive.
