Hello Adrian, interesting post from the MS conference in France, Thanks.

Somehow it's hard to imagine the masses turning against MSFT. They may have to eat their words on this one though. 'Ole bill may have to pledge his undying support to Sun's Java product to get through the lawsuit and prevent a loss of mindshare. If this does happen though, I'll bet he wins the battle another way. Seems his options are to accept a lost battle (right), try and quietly make this issue go away and come back at it another way, or force the mighty MSFT muscle and further risk that this time he may not pull it off while at the same time perhaps fueling the government MSFT investigations.

It does appear to me that the sudden nasty turn on Java and the news on the earlier than anticipated release of NT 5.0 were done specifically to steal the spotlight from Novell. I had speculated he would do something like this if he felt threatened by Novell. It seems it's against MSFT company policy to publically mention the name Novell. They have for some time pretended that Novell is no longer in the picture.

Any word on the latest NOVL/MSFT challenge that was mentioned upthread?

Good luck.
