Honduras Selects Newbridge Networks Multiservice
Platform: Hondutel Deploys Multiservice Network
Nationwide

MARCH 23, 2000
KANATA, ONTARIO--Newbridge Networks (NYSE: NN; TSE: NNC), a
leading supplier of advanced telecom technologies, today announced
that Hondutel, the national telecommunications service of
Honduras, has selected Newbridge to supply equipment for its
nationwide multiservice network. The Hondutel network will supply
business and residential customers all nationwide telecom services
including voice, data, and video.

Hondutel selected Newbridge equipment based on the quality of its
ATM technology. The purchase marks the first major installment at
Hondutel for Newbridge and its Latin American distributor, Coasin
Honduras S.A. de C.V.

Though it is the firm's first major contract in Honduras, the
purchase caps a relationship that began in October, 1998, shortly
after Hurricane Mitch devastated about 75 percent of the Central
American nation's infrastructure. Newbridge took a central role
during the nation's infrastructure recovery and donated five fully
equipped 3600 MainStreet(r) Bandwidth Managers[cm1]neednennnnld
needed for a quick rebuild.

"We have worked with Newbridge for several years and have enjoyed
a growing relationship," said Rene Pena of Hondutel. "The decision
to purchase Newbridge ATM equipment was made solely on technical
grounds, following exhaustive testing. Newbridge produces the best
ATM equipment of any we considered."

"This network is especially important because we have worked
closely with Hondutel and Coasin for several years. We are proud
to play a role in helping Honduras rebuild its crucial
telecommunications infrastructure," said Enrique Diaz, Newbridge
Executive Vice President and General Manager for Latin America.

Under terms of the contract, Newbridge will supply its
MainStreetXpress(tm) 36170 Multiservices Switch in the backbone,
the 3600 MainStreet as the access point into the backbone, and
full system management through the MainStreetXpress 46020 Network
Manager.
