Hello FT

<<Most wealth is created by taking an idea and applying it to modify or manufacture something that has value to another person. In a free marketplace that value is decided upon by supply and demand. >>

After the idea creation it is usually given to marketing gurus who will "spin it". Sometimes legitimitely, sometimes not. Sometimes with ethics and legally, sometimes not. Then the idea must be either protected or stolen by a cadre of lawyers. this is NOT always due to over-regulation. There are many disputes, some legit, some not.

The idea must also be manufactured into a product. Sometimes that manufacturing is done properly, sometimes it is shoddy and dangerous. Again, sometimes on purpose and sometimes not.
The point is, a a totally free and open system (as you described it)
has too many opportunities for abuse. There HAS to be some regulation.
Caveat Emptor is not enough.

<<Yes, money can be misused by evil men, but basically, money is the root of all good.>>

That is as much a fallacy as money is root of all evil. I have been very poor and very wealthy. I can guarantee you that the things in my life that have been "very good" and brought me the most happiness, were not derived by cash. They were a direct result of one thing. Love and shared experiences(both physical and emotional)with the people I care most about.
Those "experiences" have happened while I have been on vastly different sides of the economic scale.
that said, I would definitely rather be rich than poor. Money can absolutely bring comfort and basic necessities.

<<"The picture painted of men and women happily giving each other fair value without the hindrance of any system is a very skewed one, IMO.">>

<< That may be your opinion only because it was what you were taught in schools(especially government run ones), heard from ministers, or hear from much of the modern day media.>

That is my opinion, because it has been germane to my experiences in life. The only opinion that matters(to me). I have never been one to accept traditional thought processes just because it is what I have "heard" from the institutions around me. You can ask anyone on this thread if my thoughts on things are mainstream.

Sincerely,
Mark
