I have that too on my Mercedes. Will work with my IPOD, but won't work with any Iphone, even though the underlying guts are the same. same 2010 model year. they sold me a new cable for lighting connector, but all it does is charge it. Nice, $200 cable to charge the phone. I took it back when they said they would NEVER do a firmware update. $16 aftermarket charges just fine.

Th car people have been stupid on car electronics for many year. Just provide a bus that anyoe can connect to and leave it at that. Allow it to be open sourced and everyone uses it and then let all the aftermarket people do the trick.

The aftermarket boxes that I have seen have been fantastic and have everything I would want. Done that way, the upgrades are ike sticking devices onto your laptop. Provide me the basic USB bus and then get out of the way.
