The reason the FED did not raise rates is because some much debt and contracts in the emerging markets and many countries around the world is based on US currency and interest rates as their reference rate.. It causes stresses in the system globally when The FED increases US rates...but we need to get off this Zero rate ..25 basis point path....

And Europe Needs more QE.... Japan needs Lord only knows what.... I remember Barron's 3 issue Investment Roundtable they were doing back in 2000 or 2001 and Marc Faber was commenting how one day Inflation could get out of hand and we might see 70% interest rates..Bill Gross who was also part of the roundtable and was present at that part of the interview made a statement to the effect of "what spaceship did you just get out of"

I'm sure Bill would not have believed 10 year bunds at 5 basis points of 10 year JGB's at negative rates back then either... we may well live to see some hardcore serious inflation at some point over the next decade.

Fear and Loathing and "Bad Craziness"...... I was being asked for a long term value investment last month
and I actually was going to say and believe that a 10 year Swiss Bond yield -30 basis points is probably going to outperform a lot more assets over the next 5 to 8 years than you could believe.
