Confidence isn't what I had........I had hope that it would help my son gain an attention span of more than 5 seconds. It would take me 2 to 3 hours to get him to focus long enough to get his math homework finished. The ritlin did work for concentration but it made him sleepy during the day so we stopped it. We had an open mind so we gave it a chance. Nobody talked me into it......He went to a school that concentrated on kids with dyslexia and ADD. He had to transfer back to a regular curriculum school and his teacher thought it MIGHT help him. She didn't believe in ritlin and had only thought it should be tried on one other child she had taught in her 27 years. I didn't tell her I had put him on it and she called me up and said he had changed and maybe didn't need it.

My son didn't like how it made him feel so we stopped it. I still have to struggle with him in subjects he isn't interested in like algebra. He only pays attention when he's interested.

There was no harm done.

For every Psychiatrist that doesn't like ritlin there are many that do think it can help. All situations are unique.
