I use to work at Merrill..the largest underwriter of IPOs YTD. Basically, the high producing brokers get the shares, and the accounts have to be referral sources, big comission clients, or good friends of the broker. If you do not fall into this crowd, and a broker wants you to buy an IPO, stay back. To get RMBS and ATHM...this guy is a player!
