Client #1,
Please modify the subject header of this thread to include the link to the SI contest for 2008. Thanks...
I've watched UCLA play, and they indeed are the best in the west. However, they can be beaten, and I wouldn't at all be surprised by an early round upset of the Bruins. Also, I think that UCLA has the best coach in the tournament, and that's saying a lot. Better than Coach K, and better than Roy Williams. But the coaches don't play the game, they only coach...
Looking at the various conferences, I think the Big 10, the Big 12 and the Pac are the weak sisters this year. The strength seems to be in the Big East, the ACC and the SEC. Other than Memphis, no other team(s) from the remaining conferences look really threatening, including Texas. And of the weak sister conferences, only UCLA looks decent.
Tennessee got the shaft being relegated to the #2 seed in the same bracket as UNC. The Vols are arguably the best of the #2's, with a legitimate argument for the Hoyas being equally as good. Still, I like Tennessee just a tad better in a head-to-head contest. No arguments for Duke being there as well, because Duke is just a little short this year (pun intended).
