Today I watched Charlie Rose's interview with Robert Gates, the former U.S. Secretary of Defense.

I must say, Charlie Rose must be THE BEST interviewer around. He really knows what to ask and how to ask it. And he does it all without being bombastic, with no ego, with respect and dignity. I try never to miss an interview.

In his interview with Gates he referred to Gate's book, "Duty", which covered his time in office under G.W.Bush and Obama.

Apparently there's been some controversy about the contents of the book, especially his time under Obama. It seems there have been those who intimated that Gates had made some "disparaging remarks" about Obama.
Well, that's "kinda strange", as they say, since the book hadn't, as yet, been available to the public !!

Anyway, I was impressed with what Gates had to say. Especially his explanations regarding some of those "controversial and disparaging remarks", because, as is often the case, the remarks were taken out of context.

What also impressed me was Gate's consideration for the men serving in the U.S. military, especially those of relatively young age that were prepared to put their lives both on hold and also on the line.

He has stipulated in his will that he wishes to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery among those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
