Dear Len,
I work in an office with over 150 Engineers, my project alone includes over 35% of that total. Not one of them can be cast as having a particular mindset or host to a unique characteristic which would identify them as distinct, different from that of a teacher, lawyer, labourer, preacher etc.
There are as many different archeotypes in Engineering as there are on a walk down the street, or a trip to Las Vegas, or hidden in some Indonesian Jungle.
There are from my experience only people that do similar or disimilar jobs, people that provide a living for their family, people that do indominabe acts, people as diverse as the Universe, but to assume one can determine the nature of a person from what they do is certainly beyond any of my lifes experience or interests.
It would be more correct to assume that I provide a living in my Profession as an Engineer, it would be fatal for someone to assume that that impose some kind of limitation, or level of comprehension regarding any particular topic. One of my favourite interests is Egyptian History, along with many more.
