Impeaching President Bush

Blogs for Bush

This is from The Nation:

<<< Finally, it has started. People have begun to speak of impeaching President George W. Bush--not in hushed whispers but openly, in newspapers, on the Internet, in ordinary conversations and even in Congress. As a former member of Congress who sat on the House Judiciary Committee during the impeachment proceedings against President Richard Nixon, I believe they are right to do so...

...But impeachment and removal from office will not happen unless the American people are convinced of its necessity after a full and fair inquiry into the facts and law is conducted. That inquiry must commence now...

...Mobilizing the nation and Congress in support of investigations and the impeachment of President Bush is a critical task that has already begun, but it must intensify and grow. The American people stopped the Vietnam War--against the wishes of the President--and forced a reluctant Congress to act on the impeachment of President Nixon. And they can do the same with President Bush. The task has three elements: building public and Congressional support, getting Congress to undertake investigations into various aspects of presidential misconduct and changing the party makeup of Congress in the 2006 elections. (emphasis added) >>>

It is a six page article. I can summarize the parts I left out: President Bush is a wicked liar who deliberately misled us into war and is bent on establishing a dictatorship. That is entirely unimportant - we know that the leftwing memes against President Bush are so false as to be laughable, but we also know that its pointless to try and argue a leftist out of their views on the subject. What is important is the highlighted part - impeaching President Bush, the dream of lefists these days, can only happen if Congress changes hands this November. As the article goes on to note, building support for the impeachment of the President will require a large, public campaign to bring the idea before the American people to convince them of the necessity of impeachment, and the necessity of electing Democrats to see that it is done....somewhere, Karl Rove is laughing his butt off...

I earnestly pray that the left will actually do this: make the 2006 elections a referendum on whether or not President Bush should be impeached. I have been wondering for some months if the left would actually drive off this political cliff. They still haven't quite done it, but its looking more and more like they will. Nothing is more likely to ensure a huge GOP win this November than the Democrats running on a platform of impeaching President Bush. Have at it lefties: we're waiting for you.
