Microsoft Plans Publishing Partnerships, Gates Says techweb.com

This is about this ninemsn business in Australian. Presumably the Aussies are not properly informed about what happens to Microsoft "partners" in the normal course of events. But never mind that, I prefer to look for the random asides.

Windows 98 is expected to be released in the middle of this year, and the U.S. Justice Department's ongoing investigation of the company is not hindering the company's work on ongoing projects, Gates said.

"We are pushing ahead on all our products -- there is nothing going on in the legal arena that in any way affects what we are doing," he said. "Everything we are doing in NT 5 and Windows 98 is completely unaffected by that."

Of course it's unaffected, as long as you refuse to acknowledge the existence of antitrust law. Bill's not a legal expert, he says, but he's still the one to make all relevant decisions in this sphere. Another Microsoft innovation, I assume.

Cheers, Dan.
