Yet, the Democrats continue to insist on a supermajority.

They only seek to perform their required duty, which is to advise and give consent only when it is in the country's best interest. The checks and balances are the important thing and they are being ignored by the administration. The particular methods are just rules of congress. There are no step by step procedures in the Constitution to spell out exactly how much advice to give and how to withold consent when necessary.
