I agree. It is a good scheme because no cogent argument can be made against it -- EXCEPT that it is politically un-doable.

We've had the world's strongest economy for how many years? Why do you want to ---- around with it?

As a CPA, I have seen what this convoluted system of taxation does to people. It discourages investment, encourages meaningless consumption, and creates massive inefficiency both our business and our personal lives.
