Rent (which is counted in the CPI), might actually go up relative to housing prices, as people give up on speculating, and scramble for places to rent. Perverse thought I know.

If houses start falling and rents start rising and if they think that will be the trend from here on out do you not doubt for one second a switch from "owners eq rent" to housing prices? BTW they should do it cause it makes sense but they will not do it cause it makes the numbers look bad. What happens when housing makes the numbers look good.

Backward revision to the CPI numbers. ha ha ha

If housing falls I say CPI falls due to falling demand in all kinds of things, probably even copper. In fact those questions all lead up the the same thing. Here we go again: deflation
