An interesting article about Merrill Lynch having to cancel their December Internet conference in Arizona:

america-invest.com

While Web chat rooms are filed with snide remarks about senior Wall Street analysts who warmly recommended heavy losers, Merrill Lynch’s plan to reconvene Net investors next spring might be well inspired.

Net companies not offered up as sacrifices during these tough times might be headed for a recovery by then, with fewer competitors around and a business model proven viable through the most cynical of times.

As the carnage has worked its way through the entire Godzilla sector and the weaker players go bust or belly up, eventually the strongest business models will prevail. I'm keeping my eye on companies like Yahoo!, eBay, Amazon, AOL and a few others to see how the next year shapes up for them to see who emerges from the pile of ashes.
