[So MSFT will shrink in software but has so much money they will branch out in other businesses to monopolize as they did with WINTEL.]

Money does not mean MSFT will always be successful, Haim. MSFT almost missed the importance of the Internet. As I recall from news reports, originally, MSFT executives did not even think the Internet was important. Of course, I could have read the wrong press reports.

What is critical is that MSFT pushes products such as Windows, CE & NT that do not support critical applications as that term is defined by people in the industry. (I'm sure this statement will get the arguments going.)

For instance, if you are a bank and you need to transfer huge amounts of money overseas. Or if you are a researcher who needs to render the images of earthquake faults in the Puget Sound basin, it's very unlikely you would use MSFT Windows or NT.

Instead, you would use a UNIX workstation or workstations because you need to feed into the computer huge amounts of data. And you don't want to wait 50 years to get your results.

By the way, what is the significance of "an intermediate bottom"? Does that mean you expect the market to drop further?

Cheers,

Mephisto
