After returning from dinner and a glass of wine, I think now that the imperative might be better stated with a sort of infinitive that they use:
"Na mathis!" pronounced roughly " Na MAH-thees!"

I think this would be a better informal imperative for "Learn!" Modern Greek doesn't seem to have a single word infinitive form, just as in our own language. They use "na" with the particular person which is appropriate for the usage.

Sorry to be so vague. My Greek exposure is a long story which I won't bore you with at the moment. I don't claim any true expertise.
