I couldn't disagree with you more on this..they were still teenagers, testosterone running through their veins at the fastest clip of their life, sex on the brain 24/7 yet trying to figure out how to deal with their thoughts and feelings..their judgement and maturity off ..He first off was an adult(about 3 times their age), even if the boys flaunted naked around him, he should NOT have participated, they were looking to him to fhelp them figure out their sexual identity, and the appropriate ways to act..Secondly, he was in a position of power(in Congress no less)..how much they were willing is not knowable..teens like they who are motivated to go work as a congressional page can appear more mature than they really are..but they are still kids..the pedophiles and many 'normal' people seem to think that if a child is seductive toward them then it's not wrong as the kid 'asked for it.' or was willing...The reasons a kid would consent to have sex with an adult are too complex to expound on it here..but truly, the harm these kids suffer follows them throughout their lives(their age and length of time being a factor)..of all the kinds of abuse, sexual abuse is the most harmful and most difficult to heal..although lots of progress is being made..
This is aweful for the kid(s), Foley, his constituents, etc..he apparently has a chemical dependency..he's a troubled man..unfortunately his behaviour troubled minors..
Regarding Monica and MaryJo, I hear ya..but it doesn't minimize the hard consequences that Foley, imo should face.. |
