Iraq Macro Flash — Immediate Fallout From Basra Violence Likely
To Be Limited, But May Signal Future Obstacles To Production Targets
14 November 2013 ¦ 5 pages ir.citi.com

Over the weekend, angry mobs attacked the camps of two foreign companies
working on oil fields in the Basra area, the epicentre of Iraq’s oil industry. A
number of foreign workers were injured, resulting in the evacuation of an
unspecified number of foreign oil workers from Basra. While the exact impact on
current and future oil production is unclear and will depend on how the situation
evolves in the coming days and weeks, we believe the economic fallout is likely
to be short-lived and limited.
