Clark,
I would believe that 20,000 figure as well as the 1 million
figure. Each time I go into best buy the dvd shelf gets bigger and
the hot new movies are sold out(ie- Absolute Power). But the bigger
picture is that the studios are getting a taste of taking a 1-1.5 million dollar investment and turning it into 20 million, not a bad
return on investment for a couple of months. Also your right, you
only watch it a couple of times that is why you need to build a library of movies. The price point is also key. These folks with the
players have 20 movies each(lets say) and that is for a couple of months. I have never bought 20 laser discs in a couple of month, it
is just too expensive. So the price of the dvds is encouraging widespread collecting or so it seems that way.
