The Okinawans have been in constant dialogue with the USA, they have not been subjected to "settlers", nobody is stealing their water, and they feel a real sense of progress.
Most important the Okinawans believe that the USA does not intend to displace them from Okinawa.
The analogy is poor. But thanks for admitting that there are examples of countries giving up land through negotiation.
