ReReducing businesses and cutting out R&D
expenses. Needed to do this to sustain business at Break Even. Essentially, LRCX is now exiting the Flat Panel and Thermal CVD business

Tom,

The way I read this is that these two sentences are essentially referring to the same thing. The cutting out of R&D expenses is referring to the cost savings?? that will be achieved through their exiting of the Flat Panel and Thermal CVD businesses. One thought simply follows another.

If I suspected Lam was cutting back on etch or CMP, I would have already pulled the trigger. Bagley is an industry veteran. IMO he knows better. To do so would be to sign their own death warrant.

Regards,

Brian
