I've used Naviscope since it became the topic of the day on this thread a while back. (My Naviscope folder is dated Dec 23, 00)
As I became familiar with its use and settings, I've posted my findings on this thread. So far, it has caused me no grief. I consider it a keeper.
It works in the background. While viewing the current page, it fetches additional pages, speculating which pages will be viewed next. If it guesses correctly, when the user clicks the link, the page displays instantly, because the data has already been received. Naviscope allows some customization in the pre-fetch selection.
For slow dial-up users, this program provides a profound improvement in on-line productivity. While paging through posts and replies on SI, clicking NEXT results in a new page instantly.
A couple of quirks are easy to live with: When closing, close the browser first, Naviscope next, and the dial-up connection last.
The ad blocking can be a problem. I no longer know where to turn when I want to part with some money.
