i agree with you dyb. but whats your point. mysql is going to bundled into either sunw's solaris operating system or sun one offerring for free in the near future. but at one time alot of people paid for products like msft access. companies like ibm, oracle, and msft will be generating new offerings to make money on. like linux, mysql will be offerred on the lowest end because of the lack of support from one single company. even redhat has to figure out a way to make money. don't forget, the united states is a capitalistic society:).

linux is going to crush msft on the desktop over time and mysql will crush very low end database offerrings. but good companies come up with new ideas and support them. oracles rac is a patented technology thus cannot be duplicated in its existing format. if the patent is strong enough, it cannot be duplicated period. msft, ibm and oracle are more than database comapanies. mysql is a sliver in a large universe.
