Increasing hail is a sign of global cooling. Conversely, all computer models simulate a "hot spot" in the upper troposphere from CO2 heating. Of course, all the models are wrong...as shown by weather balloons and satellite data.



As the surface heats into spring/summer (with more variance due to residual cold & dry air from the winter), the upper atmosphere takes longer to warm. The convection with surface warming & a cold upper atmosphere leads to hail. And there is lots of it going on.
