Their new top-of-the-line desktop offering is powered by Pentium D.

It's obvious that absolute performance is not the criterion on which HP sells what they know they can sell. After all, the Pentium D exceeds on some benchmarks and where it doesn't comes within low % of the competition. Note also that the VIIV certification carries a LOT of weight. This VIIV thing is going to be BIG. It's only going to get worse for AMD.
