"(remember, UTS modules work off of ATED encryption devices, and have cellular, internet and intranet connectivity -- might that matter?)"

Do you happen to know if ATED encryption has been approved for export by the Commerce Department? The only encryption capability that I am aware of that has government approval is RSA Data Security's public key algorithm. By the way, 128-bit encryption is not available for export, only 40-bit. The CIA, NSA and DIA all get a little edgy on this topic.

For Ashton to have VTS approved for use outside the US, I am not sure what approval process they may need to go through for the encryption capability. I believe this will be applicable to all ECN's. Anyone have any opinions or facts to offer on this topic?
