The Eve of All Hollows is an interesting one through the ages. All Souls Day (Nov 2) was derived from a pagan feast held at the same time of yr. Christian clergymen often accommodated pagan symbols or feasts in order to gain converts. For example, St Patrick designed the celtic cross when he was explaining the trinity to sun worshippers. It consists of the usual cross shape overlaid with a circle representing the sun.
