General Motors, Apple, and other US companies manufactured and sold a combined total of $223 billion in goods through their Chinese branches in 2015. This figure was not factored into Sino-US trade numbers.


There wil be no way these American compnaies will align with the President's goals

  1. Trade Issues, (China proposing buying more goods)
  2. IP Protection, (China hastling put together new law, while the US asks for guarantees and oversight)
  3. Technology Transfer, (China will not budge on this one)
  4. Opening markets, (China will negotiate that)
  5. State Owned Enterprises (SOE). (China will not budge on this one)
  6. Navigation on the South China Sea (China will not budge on this one)

1. The Chinese trade talks the Chinese are proposing to buy from the US and not from other countries. Oil&Gas for instance

2. China knows that this is a sine qua non. But the US will push hard for oversee it which makes it a tough sell to the Communist Party

3. China needs technology to keep coming as they needed for Made in China 2025. Have a look how much technology they are buying today.


4. Opening the market can be negotiated. Agree a time table an moving on.

5.Modification on SOEs is not negotiable as influences GDP and employment and these are two important points for the Communist Party.

6. The PLA and the Communist Party would not like this to be changed as it implies less budget and less goodies for the boys.
