i believe it was normal fly bye route, small planes not restricted. in fact none of nyc was restricted to small planes. basically it comes down to a joy ride, with instructor . one thought from flyer with same mfg of plane, the air speed of plane was too slow to maintain control and at that height the plane's recovery was impossible.
