Futures market sees chance of Fed rate cut By Rex Nutting
The Federal Reserve might cut its overnight interest rate before the end of the month, financial markets indicate. The rally in the federal funds futures market implies a 76% chance of a rate cut from 1.75% to 1.50% by the end of August. The market gives a 12% chance of a rate cut by the end of July. The Federal Open Market Committee's next scheduled meeting is Aug. 13, but the FOMC can change policy at any time if circumstances warrant.
