I guess that is what takes so long------they are too busy. Downloading a browser on the first day of release is like it used to be when you tried to make a phone call on Mother's Day. Since that's the busiest calling day, the old-days telco didn't have quite enough capacity to handle the demand. The network was actually designed that way. It just wasn't worth it to pay for all that extra transmission capacity that would be unused except on that one day. Both Microsoft and Netscape say they add lines and servers to handle the extra load of a release, but neither ever seems to add quite enough. And really it doesn't make much sense to assume the extra cost. Folks who insist on getting something like this the first day are usually committed enough to try again (and again).
