This… you can't overcome addiction on your own. …is an outright lie. I would not go as far as saying its a "lie" - its a misperception, that some believe in. Been thru rehab, AA, 12 step etc - finally gave up participation, coz the stress of counting "1 more sober day in my life" was not worth the benefit. These days, I'm no longer drinking like I used to, but the occasional beer is not too bad - I neither miss it, nor crave it, I just enjoy it when the occasion is appropriate - explodes another myth in the AA thingammy - if u start again, u'll go back to where u left off.....
