This is not Iraq with tons of weapons; this is folks waging war mostly with machetes. They can't afford food, much less guns.

But there are some discussions about a UN or OAS force going in, and I think that's a better solution than us going in alone.

The tough love approach of letting it play out is appealing. But it probably will result in a lot of folks getting killed and starving from the subsequent disruptions. Letting that happen on an island just a stones throw from where I sit right now, in The America's, just doesn't sit well.

We can help, this one we can afford... we should help.
