re: ["The facts will just not be there to enable one to accurately make the correct decision..."]
No one who has spent as little as one afternoon researching the subject could possibly utter such nonsense.
Sadly, 95% of Americans won't do any research. They'll look to Marcus Welby, and Dr. Kildare to tell them what to do, because that's how they've been conditioned.
The nice man in the "experts" white coat, couldn't possibly be injecting them with anything that would hurt them, or their family.
He wouldn't possibly do any unnecessary surgery, or prescribe unnecessary drugs just to make a payment on that new bass boat.
He couldn't possibly be taking kick-backs in the form of cruises, golf vacations , and even cash, for pumping out the drugs that hot little super-model, saleslady who visits him each Tuesday sells him.
And Big Pharma has such a good history going back to Hitler's I.G. Farben, which still exists today in the form of BASF, Bayer, and Hoechst.
Don't forget Bayer's intentional distribution of Aids tainted blood products.

Or, Baxter's recent release of live bird flu...

And then there's the track record of such benevolent CEO's like Searle's Donald Rumsfeld who brought the world goodies like Aspartame, Agent Orange, and made a fortune on Tamiflu.
And don't forget the good folks of Monsanto who are doing God's work with the food supply...
Be good children and do what Daddy government tells you to do, Thalidomide good, Fen-Phen good, Vioxx good, be good little sheeple because it's too damn much work to spend a couple of hours online to find the truth.
For those who who have a hard time unplugging from infotainment, this may serve as a good transition, especially given the author's research prior to writing the novel.
The movie is excellent.
May I suggest either the movie, or the book, along with the author's very understated quote prefacing the research he did on the drug industry prior to writing the book:

"Compared to the reality of the drug industry, my book reads like a vacation post card" -- John Le Carre, Author
