Z, I thought so but I was too lazy to do a search. Of course, now with your demanding question on the floor, I don't have much of a choice, do I? <g>

It turns out the bill was sponsored by PM Raffarin but also has the backing of Chirac. I don't think Chirac and Raffarin get along too well.

So what do you think about the new bill? The Muslim population in France is not small [5-10%] although the bill is not directed exclusively at them. It also bans Christian crosses and Jewish skull caps? Do you think it will set off a hornet's nest of protest world wide?

BTW this is my second pass at this post. The first one appears to have been jettisoned into cyberspace by SI but they have an uncanny way of reappearing on the thread.
