We also evaluated a beta version of Microsoft Active Directory (see "Microsoft Says Better Active Tomorrow," Page 102). It won't be available until next year, but few are impressed with its proposed architecture.

NDS is the acknowledged leader in the NOS directory services market. Not only is it widely used--NetWare 4.x holds more than 50 percent of the NOS market--but NDS is also the most technically advanced directory service.
