One thing the author forgot to address - Dark heart + dark soul = unhappy disposition.

I mean really! Think about it! When you embrace the dark side, I.E., when you decide that "for the greater good" you need to lie, revise history, intentionally mislead, slander, smear & otherwise disparage your "enemies" by any means necessary, you will not be a very happy person.

I would think that most folks know internally whether or not their behavior is moral & ethical or not. Even those who are capable of deep denial subconsciously know the difference.
