Some info on: Michael Oakeshot (1901-1990) Michael Joseph Oakeshott (11 December 1901 – 19 December 1990) was an English philosopher with particular interests in political thought, the philosophy of history, education, and religion, and aesthetics. He is now regarded as one of the significant conservative thinkers of the twentieth century. en.wikipedia.org Note at the bottom under Trivia: "The popular blogger and journalist Andrew Sullivan wrote his Ph.D. dissertation at Harvard on Oakeshott." Most probably, Sullivan sent in this addition....
