Thank you. Happening late in life, and after diabetis, losing her child, the worst type of diabetis (she is now on a pump, that is the only way that works, and it was a fight to get medicaid to go for it) anyways... she was not happy about it. she took it rather well until other health things interfered with her being able to work. but she loves reading. and movies. just really was not easy. but she loves her books on tape. and, yes, sis #2 is a blessing for her. that was happenstance. #2 was in Austin and when we researched places with services for the blind and med things she needed, Austin topped the list. and #2 was there. kaching. she's also gotten to know some church people who are very wonderful. there are women who take her on shopping trips... they love to shop and #1 is good shopping company, so it works for all. but it relieves the mind to know they are there. with her health, if she doesn't 'show' for something, someone checks on her. she's had a triple-bypass, again heriditary, not being 'fat'. I take exception to some of the talk of people who need care these days. people are forgetting, imo, how much is just the luck of the draw on health.

and your daughter could find a good career. when I was 19 and tossing papers for a living, my supervisor's main job was as a rehab counselor. he taught some sightless things. made me learn how to get thru a room in the dark. how to fill my glass without sight. he loved his main job. there is a joy in a it... helping people to learn to cope, and to realize there is so much they can do... and it's okay to be angry about it, too.
