A broker buddy of mine is trying to tell me that MM funds are SIPC insured.... does that make any sense? He's also trying to get me to start cost averaging now, saying that I'll do great over 10 years AND that in crappy markets like now [and the 70's] mutual funds still crank out 6-7% a year.
