BP:

A couple of weeks ago a fellow employee was taking a three-day MSFT class down at the local "certified training center." During one of the breaks, one of the younger students volunteered his opinion regarding operating systems. He believed that NT was clearly the best, followed by OS/2, then IntraNetware, in that order. After listening to an ensuing debate as to whether or not OS/2 deserved a second place, my coworker intervened. In reply to his query as to whether anybody knew about the significant differences between the systems was a resounding "no, not really." After inquiring further, my amazed comrade discovered they actually knew NOTHING about IntranetWare. Never saw it, never read about it, only knew its name. OS/2 earned its respect because the guy, when he was in High School, knew somebody who was running Warp, and it was pretty cool at the time. In ten years or less, these guys will be making business decisions based on this foundation of ignorance (see post 18397).

By the way, did you all hear that NT 5.0 will have something called Active Directory? Man, it's awesome; what an idea! ;-)

Regards,

AJ
